A circular business model

To enable mobility today, tomorrow and in the future is to let people move freely - over time. Our business is based on taking care of what we have and to give it a longer life. By doing so, we can contribute to the sustainable transformation society is undertaking and there are things that can be done to reduce consumption in every area – including the car life.

MEKO's business model allow everyone to be environmental friendly

"By maintaining your car, and servicing it on continuous intervals, you contribute to a more circular society. Servicing your car, instead of buying a new one, even if it is electric, reduce the car manufacturing and the emissions it entails. The aftermarket in the automotive industry contributes to a circular economy by reuse and recycling of products and materials. At MEKO we aim to keep the resources in circulation instead of being consumed and becoming waste."
- Pehr Oscarson, President and CEO, MEKO.

Workshops within MEKO are involved in collecting parts and materials that can be recycled suppliers, e.g. cast iron and aluminum calipers. Waste oil is an example of consumables that are recycled, and as the car fleet becomes more electrified, the collection and handling of batteries also becomes increasingly important.

A circular economy is necessary to enable sustainable mobility

At MEKO we have been working with a circular business model for 50 years, by maintaining your car and give it a longer life. Our vision is to enable mobility – today, tomorrow and in the future. That means that we continue to take actions for sustainable operations.

"Our traditional linear economy, where products are manufactured, used, and thrown away, leads to enormous waste. The transition to a circular economy is necessary for us to save resources and limit global warming. It’s crucial that we change the way we produce and consume products, and I’m convinced that MEKO can contribute to that change."
- Louise Wohrne, Head of Sustainability, MEKO.

MEKO contributes to reuse and recycling of products and materials, so that circular economic value can be maintained. For example, there is a service in our Danish operations where specific tools and equipment are rented out to workshops, and in Sweden a new service has been launched within the subsidiary Mekonomen, where car owners rent bulky equipment, e.g. roof boxes.
